The
Osvor Museum depicts a replica of a fishing outfit of the rowboat era
and is among the oldest of its kind in the country.
Upon the reconstruction of the fishing outfit, great care was
taken to follow the original as closely as possible.
The
fishing outfit consists of the Salt House, Fish Sheds, an open, six
oared fishing boat, a wooden winch, a fish drying area and tool sheds.
Inside the sheds and fishermen’s lodgings are all the necessary
things and gear of the fishermen past, their hide clothing, tools and
artefacts.
The curator of the museum often wears the fishermen’s clothing
and outside you are certain to see some dried fishes hanging from the
wooden trestle. |
