ITINERARY
Day 1. The
Bonduos area.
Drive
from Akureyri
for a sightseeing
around the big peninsula to
the nearest bay to the west, Skagafjordur. En-route are the fishing towns Dalvik
(possible boat tour to Island Hrisey), Olafsfjordur, and Hofsos.
Attractions on th way are in these towns, i.e. folk museums, the
Emigration Museum, the old bishopric at Holar, and in town Saudarkrokur
are quite a few old houses. Drive to Blonduos
are where you will be accommodated for
the next four nights.
Day
2. Fishing in
Lake
Laxarvatn.
Lake Laxarvatn has an
area of about 0,6 km² and the fishing permits are valid along a 3,5 km
long
shoreline belonging to the farm Saudanes. The lake's discharge is the most
renowned salmon river
of the country, Laxa in Asar.
The
catch consists lake char, brown trout and a few salmon are caught
every summer.
The bait: Fly, spoon and worm.
Day
3. Fishing in
Lake
Svinavatn.
Lake Svinavatn has an area of 12 km².
It is situated 123 m above sea level and its greatest depth is
38,5 m. Its greatest length is 11,1 km and width 2,1 km. Two rivers,
Sletta and Svinadalsa, feed it, and its discharge is Upper-Laxa, which connects it with lake Laxarvatn.
The main catch is lake char, brown trout and every summer a few
salmons are caught.
The bait: Fly, spoon and
worm.
Day 4. Fishing in Lakes
Grundartjarnir.
The two lakes, Grundartjarnir, have areas
of 0,6 and 1,0 km². They are situated at 500 m above sea level in the
valley Svinadalur. To get to the lakes the anglers have to conquer the
mountain slopes first (Svínadalsfjall).
The number of fishing permits per day is not limited. The
catch consists of 1
- 2,5 pound lake chars.
The lakes are
located about 1 km from the farm Grund.
The bait: Fly, spoon and worm.
Day
5
Varmahlid

Drive to Akureyri and
spend rerst of the
day in Akureyri.
The city offers you a unique charm and
culture. You can find good restaurants, elegant shops, excellent museum
and exciting night life.
