 SKAFTA THEME AREA

Utivist and the county Skaftarhreppur have reached a co-operative agreement on tourism in Skaftarhreppur. This involves a huge area, from the glaciers Myrdalsjokull and Torfajokull in the west to Skeidararjokull glacier in the east. Among the many attractions of the area are spectacular geological features are: craters Lakagigar, forest Nupsstadarskogur, fire fissure Eldgja, county Landbrot, Lake Langisjor, Mts Fogrufjoll, area Skaelingar, craters Álftaversgígar, and vast shorelines. Other spectacular sites are Raudibotn, waterfall Ofaerufoss, basaltic columns Dverghamrar, river Grenlaekur, pool Tröllshylur, cliffs Systrastapi and Orrustuholl. The Útivist/Skaftarhreppur plan offers trips through the Skafta Theme Area.
