Mountain hut Dyngjufell is located at the northeastern end of valley Dyngjufjalladalur, 3,7 kilometres southwest of Mt Lokatindur.  It was built in 1993 and accommodates 16 people.  Hikers have priority.  It is heated with oil.  Usually water is accessible in a small stream near the hut.  Hikers walk in different directions from the hut, some across Askja to the Dreki huts, some to the Braedrafell hut, some to the Botni hut in Sudurarbotnar, and others to the south through the Dyngjufjoll valley to the Dreki hut or to the Gaesavotn trail.
