Mountain hut Ingolfsskali was built in 1978.  It is located in Lambahraun, north of glacier Hofsjokull, and a short distance to the west of lakes Asbjarnarvotn (800 m above sea level).

Roads #752 and #F72 from Skagafjordur (Varmahlid) take you to the hut, and other roads from Eyjafjordur and the Sprengisandur Route as well.

The track to the west from the Laugafell hut to the Kjolur Route is only passable under the best of conditions and should only be attempted by experienced people in robust 4x4 vehicles

The hut is open the whole year round, but the access roads are closed during spring and early summer because of snow and muddy conditions.  Remember, this is a mountain road, which requires well equipped vehicles, preferably jeeps.

The hut accommodates 10 people in bunks and 11+7 on matrasses in the attic.  It has electrical lighting supported by solar cells.  Water is fetched to a well about 70 metres away from the hut.
