ITINERARY
Visit
the Snaefellsnes peninsula with its variable
landscapes, mountains ranges, volcanoes, craters, lava fields
and valleys, and the second largest lowland area of the country
en-route. The area
belongs to the old, western basaltic region, where the
geothermal activity is the greatest in the country. The
area is dotted with
attractions and historical sites. The trades are
mainly based on the
fisheries, fish processing.
Day 1.
Pick up the
car today and drive to
Stykkisholmur on the northern Snaefellsnes
peninsula via
Borgarnes.

2.
Stykkisholmur -
Golf Course Vikurvollur
Golf
Club Mostri's, 9 holes, par 35, Vikurvollur, was founded in the autumn of
1984. Golf course Vikurvollur is located just south of the hotel, near the camping site and the swimming pool. The distance to the
harbour area is short on foot. Great fishing lakes are only a few minutes
drive from Stykkisholmur.

to Grundarfjordur -

Bararvollur

Club Vestarr,
9 holes, par 35,
was
founded in 1995, and the construction work for a 9 hole golf course was
started in the spring of 1996. The name of the golf course is derived from the
ancient name of the Italian Bari. The village Grundarfjordur
is situated on an exceptionally beautiful bay, which is nearly encircled
by impressive and rugged mountains and great fishing
lakes are nearby.

4. Drive
to Olafsvik -
Golf Course Frodarvollur.
Golf Club Jokull,
9 holes, par 35,
was
founded on July 21st 1973. Its golf course was moved twice before it was
permanently located where it is now, and its club house was finished in
1986. The
town offers a whale
watching cruises, sea angling, and
bird watching.

Day 5. Drive to
Golf
Course Gardavollur
Drive
around the glacier
Snaefellsjokull
National Park to Hellnar
natural harbour, which was one of the
most important ones on the peninsula in
past centuries. Spectacular and beautiful cliffs protrude from the
ocean.
Arnarstapi, a fishing hamlet,
and
Budir,
are in the southwestern area of Snaefellsnes.
From there is a
short drive to Golf Club Stadarsveit,
9 holes, par 35.
It was founded in 1997. The golf course is by the main road and
extends down to the sea at Motel Langaholt where you play the afternoon
golf in beautiful surroundings.

Day 6.
Reykjavík
Drive to Reykjavík past crater Eldborg (The
Fire Castle), which is located
in a short SW-NE flank zone fissure, which
probably was most volcanically active 5000-8000 years ago. Then
to
Reykholt, one of
the most important historical sites in Iceland, then to
Husafell, a very popular summer resort among the natives.
Accommodation in Reykjavík at a hotel or a guesthouse
of your choice (optional).

due to a golf turnament.
