Golf Club Setberg was founded on the 27th of November 1994.  In 1995, both the golf course and the club house were officially opened.  In 1996, a 9 hole-par 3 golf course was opened for beginners.

This town is also known as The Town in the Lava Field or The Town of the Elves. It received its municipal rights in 1908 and developed around one of the most important trading post for centuries. It is the fourth largest town of the country.
