The river Andakilsa is one of many in the western
part of the country. It discharges lake
Skorradalsvatn and has been harnessed for electrical production. One
of the oldest swimming pools of the district is situated near the power station.
The trout and char fishing area is the lower
part of the river (7 km), between the power station and the bridge on
road no. 53. The catch consists of lake char, brown trout and an occasional salmon. The distance
from the capital is about 68 km by the Whale Bay tunnel and 15 km from
the town Borgarnes.
