These lakes have an area of about 0,6
kmē. They are rather deep and are situated 102 m above sea level. Very little water
enters them on the surface and their discharge is Gongustadaa, which runs through lake
Leirvatn to empty into the sea in Arvik.
No road leads to the
lakes, but the old route passes them. Their surroundings are well vegetated and beautiful.
The catch is brown trout, 2-5 pounders. There are many more lakes on this peninsula, such
as lakes Hamarsvotn. The walking distance to those lakes is considerable. The
distance from the capital is 288 km by the Whale Bay tunnel and 15 km from
Holmavik. |
