Lakes Bessastadavotn are a group of several connected lakes with
a limited visible catchment area. They have a total area of 1,4 kmē and are situated 657
m above sea level.
Their discharge is river
Lambakill, which tributes to river Bessastadaa. In earlier times a marked (cairns),
well travelled route passed the lakes. It is passable by 4wd vehicles. The catch consists
of the finest lake char and the lakes have been netted with good results. Fries have also
been released into the lakes, but no-one has bothered to check the results.
The distance from the capital is about 717 km by the Whale Bay tunnel and 50 km from
Egilsstadir. |
