River
Bruara is the second largest spring fed river of the country.
Its discharge area i in the Rotarsandur Area and the Bruara
Canyons, which are among the most beautiful natural phenomena in
Iceland. It is not among
the most prolific salmon rivers except fr the area around the
confluence with River Hvita. That fishing spot, called Hamrar, often
produces large fishes. The
salmon runs the total length of the river and its tributary Hagaos,
which produces 200-200 salmon during a good season, but usually quite
a bit fewer.
Most of them are caught near the
farms Spoastadir and Sel and most of the salmon running River Bruara
is believed to be on its way there. River Hagaos is the discharge of Lakes Apavatn and Laugarvatn. The char catch is relatively good and the fishes sometimes weigh up to
7 pounds. The individual farmers in the area sell permits.
