Lake Byskalarvatn is at 270 metres above sea level and has an area of  0,29 km².  It is among the southernmost of the Hrutafjardahals area, most of which have not yet been named.  It most probably has never been exploited, which does not mean that it is fishless.

The distance from the capital is 186 km  by the Whale Bay tunnel.
