This river runs through the long Eyjafjord valley until it spills into the ocean in
the proximity of the capital of the North, Akureyri. The fishing spots of the river are
easily accessible and the river is renowned for Its large char and brown trout, sea trout
and the occasional salmon.
The river is very popular among the
inhabitants, which sometimes makes it difficult to get licenses. It is recommended to
order them well on beforehand. The Eyjafjord District is one of the most fertile parts
of the country as the ever increasing woodlands and lush green meadows bear witness to.
The distance from the capital is about 390 km by the Whale Bay tunnel.
