This is one of the best sea trout rivers of the country, with 4-12 pounders. The fishing spots are easily accessible and its surroundings are magnificent, mountains, glaciers and lush green agricultural areas near hamelt Kirkjubaejarklaustur.  Near the river there is a lodge, where the anglers cater for themselves and the Edda Hotel is at Kirkjubaejarklaustur. The season starts on the 1. of April. The distance from the capital is about 275 km and 3 km from Kirkjubaejarklaustur.
