This is a prolific, four rod sea char river with some hope of catching an odd salmon in
the southernmost part of the Westfjords
Region. There is a new lodge on the river.
In this area the hills and mounds are sparsely
vegetated but the valley floors and the slopes have lush growth. Communications were
difficult in the past, especially the crossing of mountains in winter. Many died of
exposure on one of the most dangerous stretches until it was blessed by bishop
Gudmundur the good. The topographic names starting with the word Gufa-" date back to the
first settler, Ketill gufa. |
