Lake Hnausatjorn in the Vatnsdalur has an area of about 1,5 kmē and 4 permits are sold per day. The catch consists mainly of lake char but sea char and trout appear every  now and then.  Most of the fishes are one pounders. This lake is very popular and there is a nice, little fishing lodge located up in the slope above it.

The distance from the capital is 246 km  by the Whale Bay tunnel and 18 km from Blonduos.
