Lake Hrofbergsvatn near village Holmavik in the Northwest has an area of 0,27 km². It is very deep and is located 161 m above sea level. Lake Fitjavatn has an area of 0,1 km². It is shallow and at 166 m above sea level. They are connected by a brook.

The surroundings are lush green and beautiful. Earlier a farm stood close to lake Fitjavatn and the people living there based their livelihood partially on the char in the lakes. Both lakes contain good lake char, 1-3 pounders.

The distance from the capital is 284 km by the Whale Bay tunnel and 11 km from Holmavik.
