The town Isafiord is the Capital of the Northwest. It offers diverse recreational
opportunities, such as sightseeing on sea, from the air and land, hiking routes, horse
rentals, deep sea angling, coastal angling, museums etc. It also offers good
accommodations for those, who want to spend a day or two in the area.
The so-called Pool, the innermost part of the
bay is ideal for coastal angling, where the sea char stops before it runs up the small
rivers and brooks to spawn. The distance from the capital is about 488 km by the Whale Bay
tunnel and by the car ferry from Stykkisholmur.
