This is a run off river, which has its sources in the highlands and discharges into the glacial river Lagarfljot. It is possible to drive along most of its length and the catch consists of char and big brown trout.

There are many good fishing spots in beautiful surroundings. In earlier times many people claimed to have seen strange looking fishes in the river and thought they might be the offsprings of the monster of lake Logurinn. Those creatures have not been spotted for decades and there are no pictures to confirm there existence. The distance from the capital is about 735 km and about 40 km from Egilsstadir.
