The Whooper Swan Lake is situated just south of The Middle Route. It is quite deep and a few decades ago some lake char was released into it Whooper swans were hunted there in the past. In 1838 a farmer drowned in the lake, when he was hunting the swans by chasing them on a swimming horse.

There are two tourist huts near the lake, one of which is solely meant for hikers. The surroundings are well worth a closer inspection and a stopover in the huts.
