The
upper fishing areas of those two rivers are in the lake Myvatn area.
River Kraka is 28 km long. Its surroundings are magnificent and
the catch of the many fishing spots is fine Brown Trout. River
Laxa is the discharge of Lake Myvatn and its trout fishing area is 13
km long.
It branches between small densely vegetated
islets and its surroundings are very beautiful to say the least. The
catch consists of brown trout, 2-10 pounders. This part of the Laxa
river is considered to be the best Trout fishing area in the world.
The distance from the capital is 468 km by the Whale Bay tunnel and
about 80 km from Akureyri.
