River Laxa is rather short and crystal clear. Its course has beautiful surroundings, bare cliffs and vegetated landscapes.

River Bruara is longer and its surroundings are varied and mostly vegetated. Both rivers are near road no. 1 and both spill into the glacial river Nupsvotn. The catch in both of them is rather large sea trout. The distance from the capital is about 300 km and about 27 km from Kirkjubaejarklaustur.
