This is a rather small volume river fished with two rods. It has
some breathtaking scenery. A typical season will see some 150 to 250 salmon entered into
the log. Usually the average weight of Laxa salmon is one of the highest in Iceland.
The Laxa has two faces, a stretch were the
river ploughs through a narrow gorge and above the gorge the river is more relaxed and
some good fly fishing can be practiced on slow moving pools. A fish ladder is situated at
the top of the gorge. There is a small, well equipped self catering lodge at the anglers
