Lake Laxarvatn has an area of about 0,6 km˛ and the fishing permits are valid along a 3,5 km long shoreline belonging to the farm Saudanes. The lake's discharge is the most renowned salmon river of the country, Laxa in Asar. Only ten angling permits are sold per day.

The catch consists lake char, brown trout and a few salmons are caught every summer. The catch is very different between days and depends solely on the weather. It usually is better in the afternoon. The anglers can expect ˝-2 pounders to bite. The surrounding area is excellent for berry picking and bird watching.

The distance from the capital is 254 km by the Whale Bay tunnel and 10 km from Blonduos.
