Lake Lifrarfjallavatn, just north of the lava ridge Domadalshals on the Landmanna Route (Domadalur Route), is not accessible by car, and the walking distance is about 20 minutes.

The lake and its surroundings are well worth visiting because of the natural beauty.  The catch consists of rather reluctant brown trout (1-3 pounders).  Permits are sold at Farm Skard in Landsveit and at the lodge at Landmannahellir or on the internet.
