Their total area is 0,7 kmē. They are rather deep and are situated 460 m above sea level. Their discharge, Hrofa, runs to the north and enters the southern part of the bay Steingrimsfjordur.

The main road across the highland passes them. Lake Char was released into the lakes in 1965 and the catch is good.

The distance from the capital is 214 km by the Whale Bay tunnel.
