A huge but short river. It is in fact a collection of quite
a few smaller rivers. Some are glacial, some spring fed or run offs so the Olfusa
has a
queer greenish colour. There are a few beats on the river that are fished with rods.
Others are still netted. The river produces a
few hundred salmon during the season, plus some sea trout, but the fishing is different
from what anglers are accustomed to on the clear rivers. Worms, spinning and fishing with
weighted tube flies are the most productive ways to catch fish in the Olfusa. Among the
best beats are Selfoss, Arbaer, Laugarbakkar and others.
