Lake Samsstadavatn is a shallow lake with an area of about 0,2 kmē and is situated 135 m above sea level. Its discharge is the fine salmon river Laxa in Dalir.

It is accessible by most cars and its surroundings are mostly green. Once there was a cultivated field on the lake. The catch consists of brown trout and lake char.

The distance from the capital is about 174 km by the Whale Bay tunnel .
