The town Sauğarkrokur is located at the western
end of the Skagafiord bay and just east of town the glacial river
Heradsvotn discharges into the sea. There are many recreational
opportunities on offer in town or elsewhere in the area, such as
museums, Saga sites, horse rentals, sightseeing on the sea, from the air
and land, Deep sea angling, coastal angling etc. The coast nearby is
ideal for fishing for Sea Char and Sea Trout.
The surroundings are
uniquely beautiful, the mountains all around and the islands on the bay.
Do not forget, that the summer nights are bright in Iceland, and there
is no place better to be than in such a magnificent area with a rod in
ones hands at such a time.
The distance from the capital is about 321 km by the Whale
Bay tunnel and the flying time from the capital is about 40
minutes. |
