This river is the one with the greatest volume and one of the longest in the Northwest.
Its sources lie 500 m above sea level and its system is widespread. The main road crosses
its lowest part. In earlier times it is said to have been dangerous and difficult to ford,
but after bishop Gudmundur the good consecrated it with holy water no more accidents
occurred.
The catch consists
mainly of sea char, which sometimes seems to have Its own mind. A few
salmons have been caught in the river as well. There are many fishing
spots along the riverbanks, most of them in the lower parts. Four rods
