Lake Selvatn has an area of 1,1 kmē, it is shallow and situated 70 above sea level. Its discharge connects it with river Hafnara on its way to lake Rekavatn.

The catch consists of Lake Char and Brown Trout. The lake is accessible by car to a holiday house on its shores. The lessee of the lake is obliged to net it to keep the fish stocks in balance.  Spinners and flies work best in this lake.

The distance from the capital is 302 km by the Whale Bay tunnel and 35 from Skagastrond.
