This
river discharges lake Svartarvatn and spills into river
Sudura and the
name Svarta continues to the confluence with the glacial river Skjalfandafljot.
It is a spring fed river with almost a
constant volume during the year. Its surroundings are vegetated mounds and banks and
barren landscapes in between. The catch consists mainly of large brown trout and smaller lake
char. There are many good fishing spots scattered along the river banks. The distance from
the capital is about 510 km and 75 km from Akureyri. |
