The sources of this river lie a short distance beyond the inhabited areas in the mountains and many brooks spill into it on its course to the ocean.

Its surroundings are varied, lava fields and vegetated areas. There are many good fishing spots to chose from and the catch is sea trout, sometimes over 20 pounds, and a few salmon as well.

The distance from the capital is about 245 km.
