Lake Vifilstadavatn is a small lake in nice surroundings very close to the capital. It abounds in small lake char, close to 1 pound in size. Sometimes people catch larger fishes and every now and then the odd 1-2 pounder brown trout.

The best fishing spots are along the south shoreline and beneath the northeast slopes. The best catch can be expected from spring to the end of June. This lake is also popular among families.

Daily opening hours: 8:00 am to midnight.
Season:  April 1st to September 15th.
Bait: All bait is allowed: fly, worm and lure.
