The village Vik is the southernmost inhabited part of the country. The south coastline
is flat and consequently the village does not have any harbour. Therefore
traditional methods do not apply and the problem is solved by amphibious, second world war
vehicles.
They are used for bird watching tours,
sightseeing as well as deep sea angling and are well equipped for all purposes. Sometimes
they are used to supply the villagers with fresh fish. The catch belongs to the anglers.
The distance from the capital is about 187 km.
Boat Tours and Deep Sea
Angling are not on offer in Vik i Myrdal any more, but at Farm
Dyrholar in Valley Myrdalur, an amphibious vessel is used for these
purposes upon request and according to daily schedule during summer. |
