Only three of the lakes in this area will be mentioned here as they have so much in common. Lake Storholmavatn, farthest to the south, has an area of 0,93 kmē and is situated 522 m above sea level.

Lake Langholmavatn, 0,84 kmē / 492 m and lake Geldingavatn, 1,03 kmē / 494 m. They are all so shallow that they turn muddy brown when the wind blows hard. The road to the lakes is only passable by 4wd vehicles. The catch in lakes Storholmavatn and Geldingavatn consists of lake char and less is known about lake Langholmavatn.

The distance from the capital is about 598 km by the Whale Bay tunnel and 70-75 km from Egilsstadir.
