ELDING'S SCHEDULED TOURS 2011
Elding's whale watching tours are operated all year long. Daily tours
are scheduled from April 1st to October 31st (EL-01).
From November 1st to March 31st we
offer scheduled tours daily at 13:00
(EL-03). During the summer months we offer numerous adventures at sea
- check out the following scheduled tours:
EL-03 Winter Whale Watching 2011
Winter Whale Watching is scheduled daily from
November 1st to March 31st
The most common whales in the winter have been
dolphins, humpback whales and killer whales, hardly any minke whales
have been seen from November through March. For your comfort and
warmth, we have special suits on board we can lend you, but we do
advise you to wear your warmest clothes - hats, scarves, gloves etc –
as it can get very cold, even on the warmest of days. We also offer
hot drinks and light refreshments on our on-board café. Alternatively,
you can sit inside the boat in the warmth, where you can watch the
whales outside from large windows.

EL-08 Imagine Peace Tour
This is a guided tour starting from Skarfabakki pier taking you to
Viðey island. History, nature and arte are united in this fascinating
tour. The sailing takes only about 5 minutes and then our guide will
walk with you to the Imagine Peace Tower where you will learn about
this magnificent work of art and John Lennon and even listen to some
of his songs. If you are lucky the Northern lights might appear
shimmering above you!

EL-01 Whale Watching Schedule
2010-2011
Daily whale watching tours are scheduled all year EL-01
from April to September and EL-03 from October -
March.
Conveniently located in Reykjavik’s old harbour, a
three hour journey with Elding can bring you up close to whales in
their natural habitat. This is an unforgettable trip into the world of
whales and sea birds. We have excellent guides on board who tell you
about your trip and describe what you can see and where to look,
together with an introduction and safety guide. The whales most
frequently seen on tours with Elding are the minke whales, humpback
whales, dolphins and porpoises. Other species such as Orcas and
Basking sharks are sometimes spotted. During the puffin season (May
15th-Aug 15th) we stop by one of the puffin colonies in Faxaflói bay
to watch these characteristic birds.
The midnight sun and the nature
of the bay Faxafloi provide a unique wildlife experience. A trip
out on the bay at night in midsummer is an unforgettable
experience. The wildlife in the bay is at its highest peak. The
mountains surrounding the bay get more effect in the colours of
the midnight sun. We shut down the engines and enjoy the sound of
the birds and the cetaceans.
