BUS SCHEDULE -
SKAFTAFELL - JOKULSARLON

From Skaftafell to themagnificent Glacial Lagoon Jökulsárlón  This stretch of the journey includes a view of Europe's biggest and most impressive glacier Vatnajökull on one side and on the black sandy beaches with the Atlantic ocean on the other side. Jökulsárlón, (the Glacier Lagoon) is a glacial river lagoon and part of one of the shortest rivers in Iceland, Jökulsá á Breidamerkursandi. Huge blocks of ice which are over 1000 years old, constantly break off the glacier, Breidamerkurjokull, and large icebergs from the glacier float on the lagoon. The lagoon is not very wide but it is over 200 meters deep. The glacier Breiđamerkurjökull is a tongue of the glacier Vatnajökull. Breiđármerkursandur and Skeiđarársandur is home to the Northern Hemisphere`s largest colony of breeding great skuas.
