BUS SCHEDULE - ICELAND ON YOUR OWN
REYKJAVIK - THORSMORK
|
Departures daily from BSI Bus terminal in Reykjavík,
possible return the same day or later. A short stop at
Selfoss village we continue through the farmlands of
South-Iceland wherewe take a rugged track shortly after
Hvolsvöllur into the magnificent Þórsmörk Nature Reserve. This series of
deep valleys, surrounded on 3 sides by glaciers, is intersected by
numerous fast flowing glacial rivers. Owing to
considerable access difficulties the average foreign
traveler seldom gets to see this jewel of the Icelandic
landscape. The region has a surprising richness of both bird life and Arctic
vegetation. A visit to the Nature Reserve Þórsmörk is a must during
your stay in Iceland. The mountain huts and camping
site in the Húsadalur valley are ideal for lodgings. A
small shop for provisions is available for light meals
and beverages. Starting from Húsadalur/Þórsmörk, the highlights are in
reversed order. |
