Drive (Lake Myvatn)along the eastern shores of the Eyjafjordur Bay, over the mountain pass Vikurskard to waterfall Godafoss.  About 30 km further east is Lake Myvatn with its many wonders of nature (Skutustadir pseudo craters, Hofdi, Dimmuborgir, Tuffring Hverfjall, Fissure Grjotagja, Hverarond, Krafla area) and Nature Baths.
Route to Myvatn are open all year weather permitting.

Husavik offers many recreational and ecucational possibilities, i.e. Whale Watching (North Sailing and Gentle Giants), The Whale Centre, The Icelandic Phallological Museum, The Folk Museum of Husavik, and lovly surroundings.  Driving further east along the coastline, only 27 miles to the south of the arctic circle takes us to the Kelduhverfi area with the third national park, (summer only) Jokulsargljufur, with the picturesque landscapes of the Asbyrgi Canyon, the The Whispering Cliffs, Holmatungur, and Europes mighties waterfall Dettifoss.  Further south, near the crossing of road #1 and the road into the interior, is the interesting tuffring Hrossaborg.  From there the road takes us back to the Lake Myvatn area and Akureyri.

To be able to enjoy all the marvellous attractions it is recommended to spend one night enroute, i.e. in Husavik or on Lake Myvatn.
