The very modern and highly
reliable telephone system offers direct dialling to every nook and cranny
in the world. There are not to many telephone booths, but telephones for coins
or cards can be found in many public establishments. The
rates differ between the times of day. Hotel rates are usually higher.
For international calls always dial 00 first. For information, call 118
(internal) or 114 (external). Dial 115, if you need help to place the
call.
THE POSTAL,
FAX, AND INTERNET SERVICES
Many hotels and other
accommodations offer workstations for guests, and an
increasing number offer computer plugs
in the rooms. Libraries, Internet cafés, and Post offices provide
internet and fax services. The telex code into Iceland is 0501.
Dial 146 for telegrams. Post offices are usually open between 08,30 and
17,00 on weekdays and closed on
weekends. In the rural areas, opening hours may vary. |
