This island is just off the coast of the headland Alfsnes on the Kolla Bay.  The channel between it and the mainland was frequented by merchantmen during the middle ages before the trading post was moved to Saint Mary’s Harbour on the Whale Bay.

The island was inhabited until the beginning of the 20th century and in earlier times it was also a church site.
