This
bay is actually a large lagoon, connected with another, The Hamar Bay,
and both separated from the sea by relatively wide isthmus.
Both continuously grow shallower because of the silt deposits of
the rivers spilling into them.
Large areas dry up during low tides and it few islands grow in
size. Inland
from the bay is a county by the same name.
It
is renowned for its natural beauty and possibilities for outdoor
activities.
In its mountainous region are quite a few spots with thick layers
of ignimbrite. |
