The Argument Mound protrudes from the eastern Skafta Fire Lava Field, just south of the main road.  According to a legend, one of the Saga Period personalities, Hamundur the Lame, revenged his fathers death near the mound.  His father was Hroar the Chief at Farm Tunga.

Another legend tells us about two elderly farmers in the area, who never saw eye to eye.  They died almost simultaneously and were buried on top of the mound.  Afterwards, the passers by could hear them arguing loudly inside the mound.
