These
craters are usually named Eldborg (singular) at the foot of Mt Geitahlid
to the east of the abandoned farm Krysuvik. The so-called South Shore
Road passes between them and the short trail to the top of Stora Eldborg
starts from there. Those are symmetric and beautiful scoria craters at
the southwesternmost end of a crater row, which created lava fields
stretching all the way to the sea. The Litla Eldborg lava field, which
is considerably smaller than the one created by Stora Eldborg, lies on
top of it. |
