Skogar is an abandoned farm in the eastern slopes of Thorskafjordur Bay, at the foot of Mts Vadalfjoll.  The beloved poet and reverend, Matthias Jochumson (1835-1920) war born there and raised to the age of eleven.  His nephew, Jochum Eggertsson (1896-1978) started reforesting the area with many imported species of trees.

In earlier times, the farm was called Uppsalir.  A memorial of the rev. was unveiled there.
