Presently
a farm at the end of a synonymous cove south of the town Stykkisholmur
on the Snaefell Peninsula.
According
to the Eyrbyggja Saga, it was a District Parliament Site.
It was desecrated with innocent blood and had to be moved
elsewhere. Ruins of more
than 40 houses (budir) were discovered there during an archaeological
excavation in the 19th century.
The largest one was about 20 m long, and traces of a wall around
the former judicial assembly with a sacrificial stone (Thor Stone) were
still obvious when the Saga was written.
