Moorland
Trollatunguheidi rises to about 400 m above sea level and passes through
landscapes with alternating rocky and barren undulating hills, bogs and
lakes of which Lake Langavatn and Lake Midheidarvatn are the most
prominent.
The
highest rising point on the way is Mt Midheidarborg and the view enroute
is magnificent. To the west
of the highest point of the road is the Arkotludalur Valley with two
ruins of abandoned farms. The
driving distance between the farm Gautadalur in the Geiradalur Valley
and Trollatunga in the Tunga County on the Steingrimsfiord Bay is about
23 km. |
