Valley
Josepsdalur is actually a depression in the landscape to the west of Mt
Vifilsfell.
In the past, the main route between the Olfus County and
Reykjavik.
Legend has it, that a man named Josep lived there.
He was a skilful craftsman, but he also had big moral defect.
He swore so intensely, that once he outdid himself and his farm
was pulled down by the devil and disappeared from the surface.
During
the first half of the 20th century the Skiing Association
Armann owned a lodge in the valley, which was at that time a very
popular skiing resort.
An access road from road # 1 leads into a pass behind Mt
Vifilsfell from where there is only a short walk to the top. |
