This self escorted itinerary takes you through the valleys of Borgarfjordur to cross the Holtavorduheidi plateau to Northern Iceland past Bru, the crossroads for Strandir and the Westfjords. Continue to Holmavik, on the inner reaches of Steingrim's bay, backed by high rocky outcrops, where you find the fishing and trading village Holmavik.
Then cross Moorland Steingrimsfjardarheidi to the magnificent Westfjords. They feature the magical and dramatic scenery of Europe’s westernmost shores and the South-Fiords'  regions to Reykholar and the trading village Budardalur. Enjoy the classic sights and scenes of Iceland  before returning to the capital.

ITINERARY SUGGESTIONS,
FERRY BALDUR TO THE
WESTFJORDS IN 4 DAYS

Day 1. Reykjavik -  Stykkisholmur - Ferry Baldur to Brjanslaekur
Leave Reykjavik and drive to Stykkisholmur to board the ferry to Brjanslaekur via island Flatey for overnight in the area.

Day 2: Brjanslaekur - Latrabjarg - Isafjordur
Explore the spectacular region of Latrabjarg then drive back to crossrods to head for Isafjordur, or drive direct from Brjanslaekur to Thingeyri  and then head for Isafjordur for overnight.

Day 3: Isafjordur -Holmavik
Head for Sudavik and passing Heydalur before reaching Holmavik for overnight in the area.

Day 4: Holmavik - Reykjavik.
Leave Holmavik passing the Bru crossroads for Strandir and and North Iceland  to cross the Holtavorduheidi plateau and drive through Borgarfjordur to Reykjavik.
